Guide for Intended Parents
Typically, Yes — you can meet your Surrogate Mother.
However, the nature and scope of INTERACTION with your Surrogate Mother can vary considerably.
Some surrogates hope to be very involved with their couples, other simply do not.
When using your own Surrogate Mother you may have very altered expectations of how elaborate your relationship will be.
What Type of Relationship Will I Have with my Surrogate?
Will you attend her pre-natal visits? Will she be communicating with you on a weekly basis? Do I want her to meet my own family?
These and many additional partnering issues can be properly addressed by a surrogacy agency that is knowledgeable in such matters. If you are using an agency and the Surrogate Mother is recruited and qualified for you, you will be sent her details for approval and informed of the appropriate communication protocol.
The level of relations between the Surrogate Mother and Intended Parents is a subjective partiality left up to the two of you. Decide how much communication you are contented with, and also consider how much interaction the Surrogate Mother anticipates.
Some Intended Parents like high intensities of interaction; including e-mail or phone contact, and the opportunity to be present at doctor’s appointments. Aggressively, Intended Parents most likely want to be encompassed in the pregnancy.
In the same way, some Surrogates also aspire to have a close relationship with the Intended Parents and may be frustrated if regular contact with them throughout the pregnancy or beyond was not satisfied. Many Surrogates and Intended Parent's anticipate a life-long bond after the birth.
A smaller percentage of Intended Parents and Surrogates bind to an impartially low level of contact such as occasional updates, pictures, and phone calls but do not essentially have a close attachment. This may be due to the fact that some individuals do wish to be present at doctor appointments and choose not to visit the Surrogate Mother regularly, if even at all, during the pregnancy.
Many Surrogates may prefer this type of relationship since they are already engrossed in their own lives, and may not desire an exceedingly close relationship with the Intended Parents. Before entering into contract together, it is imperative that the Intended Parents and the Surrogate Mother come to an understanding of what level of contact they favor.
